José Mourinho, az angol futballbajnoki címet védő Chelsea portugál vezetőedzője elégedett azzal, hogy csak hatpontnyi a hátránya csapatának a Premier League-ben vezető Manchester United mögött.

A legkevésbé sem az önbizalomhiányáról elhíresült szakember azután nyilatkozott erről, hogy együttese a kedd esti bajnokin gól nélküli döntetlenre végzett a kapujában Király Gábort felvonultató Aston Villával, ezáltal elszalasztva az esélyt arra, hogy közelebb zárkózzék az éllovas manchesteriekhez, akik hétfőn 2-2-re végeztek a Newcastle Uniteddel.

Mourinho ennek dacára fogalmazott úgy, hogy márpedig ő elégedett a jelenlegi szituációval, majd magyarázat gyanánt hozzáfűzte: "A jelenleg a Chelsea-t sújtó gondokat figyelembe véve a Manchester Unitednek 10, 12, de akár 14 pontos előnye is lehetne velünk szemben. Úgyhogy megfelelőnek ítélem ezt a hatpontos lemaradást."

Mourinho a BBC honlapján egyszersmind győzelmeket ígért a bajnokság második felére annak nyomán, hogy csapatába visszatér a jelenleg sérülés miatt hiányzó középső védő, John Terry, a szélvészgyors csatár Arjen Robben és a kapus Petr Cech.

Egyébként a 4 nagycsapat játékosait leszámítva a skysports szerint Glen Johnson volt a legjobb védő...

Rendkívül okos és szép dolgokat mond José, de valahogy sose tartja be, amit mond. Richards jöjjön meg Mancienne vissza kölcsönből!
Esetleg Bridgey-t vagy Cashley-t is ki lehetne próbálni középen.
Nagyon félve mondom, talán Corky-t vagy Worley-t.

boula is pihen legalabb egy honapot, jelenleg carvalho az egyetlen belso vedonk. raadasul el lesz tiltva a wigan elleni meccsen(5 sarga). ha megse rakjak ossze addig a dokik terryt, akkor egy belso vedonk se lesz a meccsre.
szoval kell nekunk valaki, es nagyon gyorsan kell. tudja ezt a tobbi klub is, es nem felnek majd kihasznalni.

zirko, ahogy irtam mar, nem 2 alapember kidolese a fo gond, hanem az, hogy pont ez a 2. nincs aki iranyitsa a vedelmet.

Sajnos most (is) igaza van Josenak, a védelem egy nulla, pedig hihetetlen, hogy két alapember kiesése ekkora zavart okozhat hátul. Erre mielőbbi megoldás kell, mert a sérülés bármikor közbejhöhet. Az előző években el voltunk kényezteteve, hoszen nem sok sérülés érte kulcsembereinket.

Manchester United winger Cristiano Ronaldo has been named Portugal's sportsman of the year ahead of Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho, who finished third.

The honour, handed out by Portuguese newspaper A Bola, recognised Ronaldo's "contribution to the expansion of Portuguese football across the world".

Ronaldo, 21, said: "I'm very happy with what I've achieved and want to continue at this level in 2007."

Mourinho, the winner in 2004, finished behind Benfica striker Nuno Gomes.

Igaz szavak egy megfontolt ember szájából. Nem ködösít, nem beszél mellé. Sajnos a helyzet ettől nem lesz jobb, de jó tudni, hogy látja mindezt, és tisztában minden egyes momentummal. Nem fellengzős, nem nagyszájú duma, határozott, jó nyilatkozat, igazán örülök, hogy JM a Chelsea edzője. Ez van.

While others may have been surprised with Chelsea conceding a brace for the fourth consecutive game, the draw against Fulham came as no shock to Jose Mourinho.

"If everybody knows that Chelsea at this moment cannot defend, I am the first one to know that. When the opponent sees one mistake, and another mistake, and another mistake, they smell the chance and they keep going until the end.

"This is exactly the opposite of previous periods. Before they know they cannot score and they don't have the belief so it's easy for us to control matches."

Both angry and frustrated, Mourinho reflected on the game.

"The first 15 minutes, we had five chances to score, some with an open goal, and we didn't score. They had nothing but with the first chance scored.

"Against Wigan and Everton, we won in the last minute and the opponent had no chance to recover. But when they have 15 or 20 minutes, we cannot hold them.

"In this country everybody has tall and strong strikers, they put the ball in the box, and you need to have very strong central defenders.

"At the moment, we don't dominate the game in the air. I think if you play with this defence in another championship or even in the Champions League, it is not a big deal."

Fate has conspired to rob us of two world class goalkeepers, our inspirational leader JT, in-form winger Arjen Robben and influential midfielder Joe Cole.

Currently we are forced to field our only remaining central defender, Ricardo Carvalho, alongside out of position Paulo Ferreira, in front of our third choice goalkeeper, Hilario.

These missing players are not excuses for our current form, they are reasons. They are facts.

"We cannot defend, we are conceding incredible goals and in attack we have one player performing and scoring goals. All the others are not doing enough - Sheva is not performing, Shaun is not performing, Kalou is not performing," the manager acknowledged ruefully.

"Paulo is not a central defender, he does what he can do," shrugged Mourinho. "Hilario is our third goalkeeper, he plays to the maximum he can.

"Ricardo is the only central defender. He's played the last ten consecutive matches, he's been injured for the last couple of months and is doing the maximum he can because he knows he is the only one we have to play there."

With the transfer window about to open, will Mourinho seek to shore up his depleted defence?

"If the club asks for my opinion, I would say yes. But, at the same time, when I see the eyes of some clubs open wide and they go for absolutely incredible money for very ordinary players, I would say no. For a normal player, you cannot pay a fortune.

"If it is like that, then we go with the players we have. I need the best goalkeeper in the world back. I need the best central defender in the world back. I don't need millions."

Inevitably the question was fired as to why we find ourselves so short in defence. Why did we sell William Gallas and Robert Huth?

"Good question," accepted Mourinho, "but there is no answer. They are not here any more and, to be fair, they are both injured now."

Of the injured players, Mourinho was hopeful that he would have JT and Arjen Robben back shortly but was less than optimistic about a swift return for Joe Cole.
